Tree Appraisal Workshop:

The Penn-Del Chapter is hosting a Tree Appraisal Workshop on April 18th, 2018.  James Komen will be teaching this course at Chatham University in Pittsburgh.  The course is only open to current Penn-Del Chapter members for a nominal fee of $20.  Class size is limited to 25 participants.  

Course overview:

This course is designed for any arborist engaged in the process of assigning fair market values on individual trees.  The theory and practice of the appraisal of woody plants will be explained and demonstrated.  Mr. Komen will review various approaches to valuation and demonstrate how to determine which method is the most suitable choice for different situations.  The primary focus will be placed on the Cost Approach Method and the Trunk Formula Method for determining the monetary value of trees.  There will be an outdoor component in which participants will have an opportunity for hands-on appraisal instruction.  Dress appropriately.

The course will start at 9:00 am and run to 4:30 pm.  Lunch is included.

James Komen is a Tree Risk Assessment Qualification instructor, has presented at ISA International Conferences, has written several ‘Detective Dendro’ articles for the ISA’s Arborist News, had his research on the Trunk Formula Method published in the Arboriculture & Urban Forestry Scientific Journal of the ISA, and written numerous other articles for different industry publications.
